Victorian Terrace Re-design

The garden in this Victorian terraced house is the classic long thin garden and was mainly paved with evergreen shrubs.  The clients wanted to add colour and interest and make the garden a space they were happy to relax and dine in that also fitted with the cottage style of the house.

The new design incorporates an eliptical lawn to help give width to the long thin garden that replaces some of the paving.  The beds surrounding the lawn are full of cottage style plants with a pink, purple and white colour scheme.  Climbers have been added to soften the fence on the right hand side.  An area of paving has been retained near the house for a dining and relaxing area with a pergola above planted with climbers that will grow to cover the pergola in time.  It will also have a sail shade to enable the family to use the outdoor space during the unreliable English summers.

One year on the planting has filled out to give the soft cottage feel the clients were looking for.
